Mathboard  IPAD appProblem Solver for Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division will explain the required steps to solve these types of problems. ( asr: this is killer , we want to have this one with Voice )
 - also has Windows , MAC versions  ( asr: which is new compared to other IPAD apps )

Home Work Help project

see other Ref. link    ML TTS  on main blog ..
Python  ML:
asr: It seems we need this NLTK  not  Machine learning  coz we are processing  Nataural language text ( math problems ) .

NLTK projects : we may get some code/ideas here ..
NLTK whole book is here

Python Text Processing with NLTK 2.0 Cookbook :  asr: we may get ready to use code ...

- See the work done by this group http://filamentgroup.com/portfolio/academic_approach/  ( they contributed lot of JQuery Theam roller , so core guys ).

Learn from this approach of development:
 - if we need to develop this 'home work help' , we need to signup and see all these screens.
 - bright color-coded lesson feedback would highlight correct and incorrect answers; and browser based timers with built-in blink transitions could subtly keep students abreast of the clock during timed practice test exercises. And once completed, each lesson would be graded and presented with a color-coded marker — bright green for exceptional work, light green and yellow for good performances, and orange/read for lessons that require additional review and practice.

Once finished, the prototype became a blueprint for the working system. We developed and tested representative HTML templates for Academic Approach's key lesson types, exercises, timed diagnostics and skills tests, and lesson plan modules, from which the development team created a full complement of curricula for a range of standardized test subjects and academic areas.

- we can use this interactivity for our 'home work help ' project http://mbostock.github.com/d3/tutorial/circle.html ( but  this is HTML5 based , we may need to use JQueryUI  library so that it works on IE 7/8 bowers . There is good majority with IE 7/8 browsers who do not support HTML5 )

Big well-known Comapnies/products in E-learaing
1/  Khan Academy: - With the $2 million+ from Google and Gates in pocket, Khan told the crowd at Web 2.0 today that the academy is seeing 39 million pageviews and 3.5 million unique users per month. That 3.5 million unique users is up 309 percent year-over-year.
  - this is VLE
2/ Saika The Sakai CLE is used for teaching, research and collaboration. Systems of this type are also known as Course Management Systems(CMS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), or Virtual Learning Environments (VLE).
  - so this is for University level CMS/LMS etc..  schoolloop.com for Collages

3) schoolloop.com    CMS for middle/high schools

Khan Take on e-Learning:
Mr. Khan has a vision of turning his Web site into a kind of charter school for middle- and high-school students, by adding self-paced quizzes and ways for the site to certify that students have watched certain videos and passed related tests. "This could be the DNA for a physical school where students spend 20 percent of their day watching videos and doing self-paced exercises and the rest of the day building robots or painting pictures or composing music or whatever," he said.

1/ asr take on e-learing: we can lump all e-learning into one solution group. we need to address
  K - 8 :  middle school level  software
  9 - 12 : High school level software ..
Under Grad schools:   web sites are fine , as students are adults they do not need big visualization ...( may help , but first address  K- 8 , 9 -12  groups )

1.2/ We need Khan Youtube tutors , MIT python Video and Yenka ( see below ) Package to experiment at the same time after learning concept from the  Videos , followed by  Quizes .

2/ Interactive White boards and special software ( like 3D geometry ):

http://www.yenka.com/en/Yenka_Statistics/  -- see you tube video , it is like interactive text book ,
  - what we need to add is 'Lesson voice' like khan academy  and  ' problem sets '  and 'explaining the solution to the problem set '
  - They are using this 'interactive white board'   . How this board is different from PC connected to white BIG Screen? well on this Interactive board students can interact directly with 'Objects' with PEN instead of doing it on a PC . This way it may be more interactive .
- It seems these white boards are priced around $100 Hitachi StarBoard FX-77 Interactive Whiteboard (77" Diagonal)
- wondering? : how effetive this 'white board' vs.  student doing it on a PC and it is Fed to LCD screen . Video shows it is effective coz student is doing it like Normal BlackBoard.

final word:  School need  this WhiteBoard ( 1 board per school ) to teach complex subjets such as 3D Geomtry., but these ara $1000 a pop , an Ipad for $500 will do the same job when connected to Projector and Student can touch screen on IPAD and do same same as White Board

problems with boards:
  - software has to be compatible with these white boards to work , see Yenka example , that software is compatible , where as IPAD no such Issues .
