- Nice documentation model : http://www.stat.washington.edu/~hoytak/index.html -- click at bottom SOURCE , you see plain text it was done with http://sphinx.pocoo.org/rest.html#source-code

http://www.brookings.edu/experts/ebingerc.aspx -- asr: can use to get opinion on US electric car subsidy of $5000
- idea: we need a 'data wikipedia' like wikipedia for data, see if the above IRAQ index data is availble as CSV/Json object many creative people use it to show charts on web. A site like google can host this DATA and provide their charting tools for easy inclusion on web pages.

1.1 : http://www.codeproject.com/ this seems good resource too, seems 150 android mini projects, similar C++ , Java projects etc..

1. Quora: for inside scoop , collection of knowledge bank in aras like staratup .

Edit CL Notes: Edit

1/10/11:
http://google.aquteintelligence.com/ -- i need to do this kind of site for CRUDE using google archieve ( go back 10 year for each source 'goldman sachs' , PFGbest , other oil sources ... and recent 'twitter' #crudeoil guy what he said in the past etc..
- and archeve like the Aqutet.. guys did ... and show to a commodity guy for 'historic news' how OIL traded on those days OPEC meeting , Hurricanes, PIpe braks and the subseuqtn days trade and Spread prices on 'break day' and next 2 week , sprd with curent/next month on pipe breask etc..

Dygraphs: is good , this graphite opensource from Orbiz seems good for large sets of data
- http://graphite.wikidot.com/screen-shots
- it is written in Python ( seems is good for math ), it has memcached and realtime dataupdates
- Orbiz is using it in production to display 1600 different parameters
- User can select chart dimensions dynamically with their browser ...

1/1: see kickstart.com quriky.com crowdsourcing examples
- quirky.com has some resemblence to our 'help you shop' concept ( with 30% payment )
12/28: see Qualcom chipset for $100 android phone posting ( disruption , AVC endorsed it)

12/1:
1) Milo.com acquired by ebay for 75 mil .
lesson: I was afraid about this big funded Milo . now ebay may do some thing with it. But still the other players in this (Online reserach and Local Buy ) will have some market. This ebay buy validated my (asr) thinking for good starrtup product ideas.

2) 10gen backer of MongoDB got funded by Sequoia
3) Verizon LTE 4G shows good speeds for USB modem as tested by gigaOM. So expect 4G on phones in 2012 for $30 /data . techcrunch article said Iphone for LTE will be coming in 2012 that make sense, before that universal Iphone for GSM/CDMA first ..

11/22:
1) saw 'fast society' groupme.com competitor
2) noted may event based sites in 'product-event' delicius

-------------------------
11/16:

1) Startup Resources http://steveblank.com/blogs-for-entrepreneurs/ -- this has every thing.

asr: one of the best advices
asr: use this one for our shop discovery ( walmart/target/macys/sears/amazon vs. ASRshop )
As a person looking to buy a new car, look at how difficult it is for me to get real pricing data when I look at Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book. Now watch the same price discovery as we search through TrueCar

- Ads are served up by third-party ad networks. Storage goes on Amazon. Computation scales via Amazon, Softlayer or Rackspace. Code is built upon stacks of open source, SaaS, and $10/month services.

What used to cost $1M-$2M to set up, now costs $10K. What used to cost $5M to build, now costs $250K. What used to cost $20M to go to market now costs $1M.

Smart Money Angle list - see Chris Dixon is 1st as per businessweek http://images.businessweek.com/ss/10/02/0225_angel_investors/23.htm

3.2) Sancha touch is now Free, see good Kitchen Sync Demo
http://www.sencha.com/products/touch/

4) TrymyUI http://www.trymyui.com/ -- interesting
- asr: similarly we have many shopping aggregation sites, but ours will be easier and FUN. For example, evite has been around for a long time, but pingg and a number of other sites came about, in part with the idea that they can make the invitation design experience easier and more fun.
http://blog.trymyui.com/2010/08/3-facets-defining-the-user-experience/

Check-ins based startups:
1)stream checkin: facebook , twitter ( on top of email, provide instant for viewers)
2) location checkin: foursquare , gowalla ( friends can find you , leave reviews )
3) product checkin: http://techcrunch.com/2010/09/20/stickybits-object-check-ins/
http://techcrunch.com/2010/09/27/snapdragon/

----------
1) 11/10: groupme.com , check funding details how VCs fighting to fund this groupme.com
Series A: $850k, Series B: pre $20 MM , post: $30 ( so B team paid $10 MM to get 30% of company )
- GroupMe’s cofounders, former Tumblr employee Jared Hecht and former Gilt Group engineer Steve Martocci
- GroupMe is working with Twilio, who was a sponsor of the hack day, to power the SMS and calling. http://techcrunch.com/2010/08/25/groupme-born-at-techcrunch-disrupt-secures-funding-and-launches/ ( they used simple Twilio API .. which is cheap $1/line and 3 cent/min )
- we *HAVE* already invested in several startups using Twilio for their solution (Mogotix, TeachStreet, HomeBoodle, others (http://gigaom.com/2010/09/23/got-a-twilio-based-app-get-some-investment-dollars/)
- GroupMe just raised $850,000 from high profile investors like First Round Capital (Mint, StumbleUpon) and Betaworks (Bit.ly, TweetDeck). -- http://mashable.com/2010/11/10/mobile-innovation-dumbphone/

- Several times during the conference I noticed Kim introduce Martocci to a group of investors and entrepreneurs. They would immediately surround Martocci?with their phones out in front of him as he showed off his weekend’s work. ( asr : we can believe this as WSJ reported )

2) 11/10: checked Roambi visualizer http://www.roambi.com/
- had this Ipad app , wow this is disrupt to enterprise software

- Another company to adopt apps, Life Technologies Corp. distributed 400 iPads to its sales team and senior executives this spring. The biotechnology-tools maker licensed an app called Roambi from San Diego-based start-up MeLLmo Inc.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303891804575576380032084938.html#ixzz14xFcsnre

- Good Ipad APP Omnigraffle
- five thousandth OmniGraffle® for iPad™ on Wednesday, just 32 days after its introduction on April 3

3) techmeme has a snapshot archevie as back as 2007 , we can have similar for 'commodity news' based on google archive and save it as our own site ..

-----------------
- Scrum is an iterative, incremental methodology for project management often seen in agile software development.
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrum_(development) -- see Ref. and video section at bottom
- 3 roles , 4 ceremonies , 3 Artifacts ( asr Favorite)

2) 11/9: Chris Dixon : good startup advice page
summary: they fund based on Founder background , not just product
b) initial IDEA is not that important as it changes
c) 4 yeras std. vesting, std. terms
d) see their 40 list of small comapnies ...

At what stage of a company's life do you invest? A person or two and an idea is our favorite stage

(asr: suits us if we build 'KIDS remote' or 'Math Tutor' on mobile platforms .....)

After spending three years programming financial algorithms at a high-speed options trading firm, http://foundercollective.com/people/Chris-Dixon -- so this can understand (asr)OurSeasonal enrty price at 2Sigma Level ...

http://cdixon.org/about.html - personal investor in Billshrink , Knewton etc.. small initial IDEAS so he can be open for our 'Responsible Media Consumption' RMC ( media limits for KIDS & adults)
http://cdixon.org/contents/ -- Great , simple ( no theory) articles . Format is one page my Favourate

I think this type of investing requires a lot of intellectual modesty--recognition that you simply can't predict the future, all you can do is bet on somebody who's good enough to bob and weave along the way.

http://cdixon.org/2009/11/14/pitch-yourself-not-your-idea/
- it’s what you’ve built. This could mean coding a video game, creating a non-profit organization, designing a website, writing a book, bootstrapping a company – whatever. The story you should tell is the story of someone who has been building stuff her whole life and now just needs some capital to take it to the next level.

“come back when you have a demo.” They aren’t wondering whether your product can be built – they are wondering whether you can build it.

http://foundercollective.com/companies/Brontes -- they showed OutCome Return 9.1 x
